The rain is falling softly right now on a cool day just off the
beach a short distance north of Seattle. The sailboats are racing in
a lazy way with barely a puff of wind. So many tears on such a quite
day.
My constant companion and the mother of all in our home has just
shared her last breath with me before her long sleep ahead with a
promise from me to take her to the beach for eternity. Our beloved
Haille is gone and with her a piece of my heart as large is she was
in life.
I always introduced her as Marley's wife, but she was so much more
to everyone she met. She kept the mailman, UPS and FedX guys, pizza
guy, and the chinese delivery guy on their toes every time they came
to the door. She guarded my truck while inside and wouldn't let
anyone near. She had a big dog bark with a heart of gold. She loved
my children and would sleep in their room at night protecting them
from whatever might come through the door.
The beach was her happiest place on the planet. Her tail would wag
so fast it would spin and spin like the propeller of an old world
war two fighter. I would throw the bumpers for she and Marley and
she would charge the waves and always try to get both and bring them
back in waging her tail non-stop the whole time.
She was much loved and will be deeply missed. Most of all, I will
miss her soft nose and her loving way with Zachary, Sophia, Julie
and I.
I hope I hear her from time to time barking at the gate, or nudging
my hand for a rub on her face and head.
Good bye my beautiful girl, my B, my beloved Haille.
