Any breed can do agility, obedience, rally, dock diving or serve as a beloved companion and many breeds can do retrieving work. But only an Irish Water Spaniel is an Irish Water Spaniel.
Conformation shows allow breeders and owners of Irish Water Spaniels to be sure their dogs meet the standard and see how their dogs compare to others.
As a breeder, conformation shows are extremely important to ensure that we do not become kennel blind (thinking that what we have is the best and lacking in any fault).
